Delivery of Kisan Cards in Punjab Pakistan Underway in 2024

The Punjab government has begun distributing Kisan Cards to registered farmers. This program is being carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, with Provincial Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani in charge. The Kisan Card is a crucial step towards helping farmers by giving subsidies for agricultural commodities such as seeds, fertilizer, and machinery. This program aims to boost agricultural output and ensure that farmers get the resources they require.

Kisan Cards for Farmers

In Punjab, 850,000 farmers have registered for Kisan Cards thus far. Currently, 250,000 of these are being printed and given out. The cards will make it easier for farmers to maintain their fields and cultivate crops by enabling them to purchase agricultural goods at discounted prices. By October 15, 2024, the government hopes to have 500,000 cards distributed. At the tehsil level, 134 centres have been established where farmers can obtain their Kisan Cards.

Focus on Wheat Supplies

Purchasing wheat supplies will be made easier for farmers thanks to the Kisan Card, which is one of its key advantages. Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, the provincial minister of agriculture, reaffirmed that major inputs for wheat production can be purchased with the card. This is a crucial step because wheat is one of Punjab’s most important crops, and supplying farmers with the supplies they need will increase output and benefit the local economy.

Expansion of Kisan Card Centers

134 centres have been set up over Punjab to improve the efficiency of Kisan Card delivery. The fact that these centres are situated at the tehsil level facilitates farmers’ access to the cards. In the Okara district alone, over 21,000 farmers have signed up to obtain Kisan Cards. By using this approach, farmers from all over the province will be able to take advantage of the government’s agricultural assistance .

Agricultural Development in Punjab

Under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government is implementing a number of initiatives to enhance the province’s agricultural sector. The government has also launched the Green Tractor Scheme, which offers a subsidy of Rs 1 million each tractor, in addition to the Kisan Card. The goal of this program is to make modern farming equipment more accessible to small farmers. In order to give farmers access to services on a global scale, the government is also building model agriculture malls in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sargodha, and Sahiwal.

Agricultural Graduates Internship Program

The Punjab government has started the Agricultural Graduates Internship Program, which is a significant step forward for agricultural education. An intern’s monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 is provided under this program. This initiative is being presented for the first time in Pakistani history. The intention is to prepare recent graduates for future careers in farming and agriculture management by giving them practical experience in the agricultural industry.

Conclusion

The Punjab government’s efforts, including the distribution of Kisan Cards, are significant milestones in assisting farmers and enhancing the province’s agricultural sector. The program’s goal is to give farmers the tools they need to increase agricultural yields and enhance their standard of living. The government is demonstrating its commitment to make agriculture a key component of Punjab’s development agenda with programs like the Agricultural Graduates Internship Program and the Green Tractor Scheme.
